I must confess- have never cooked anything under pressure. On receiving this, I removed the Over Pressure Valve, tossed the Single Pressure Control, and created the best corn popper in the world. I've been doing so for 15 years, but rummage sale/thrift store pressure cookers are getting hard to find- especially without a warped bottom.
I add oil, corn, cover & put on burner (high, but don't pre-heat)- Voila! No need to shake pan (not once), over-pressure valve hole lets steam escape, Perfect Popcorn Every Time. None Better. You would be amazed.
And so much easier to clean than all the poppers on the market.

Owner manual say no use on smoothtop range. call to Mirro, they say product safe to use on smoothtop range otherwise I would return. Most ranges today are smoothtop.
