Modern Craftsman Cabinetmakers Bachelors ChestItem#: HN-STAN2616
Inviting the Modern Craftsman Cabinetmakers Bachelors Chest into your room is like inviting your most honest friend over for coffee. Your buddy tells it like it is, won't sugar-coat words, and you love it. So goes this bachelors chest. Place it next to your bed for a nightstand or use it as a mini dresser. Either way, you've got a straightforward piece of furniture that gets the job done.
Why all this attention to utility? Made of maple and select hardwood solids and cherry veneers, this bachelors chest is inspired by the practical elegance of the Craftsman design school. Clean lines, an unadorned bar at the base, and four drawers with oil-rubbed, bronze-finished pulls all combine to evoke this ideal.
And the finishes are ideal, too. You can choose between Mink and Saddle. The Mink finish features light rock dent distressing and burnishing with charcoal highlights throughout for a dark that's not too dark. The Saddle finish creates a timeless look and uses hand-distressed effects (worm holes, burnishing, cowtailing, and hatchet marks) to accentuate the cherry's natural wood grain. This bachelors chest is made in the USA, just like other pieces in the Modern Craftsman bedroom collection (sold separately).
Stanley Furniture Craftsmanship
Stanley Furniture's main objective is to produce quality and stylish furniture by using the best wood materials, construction procedures, and elegant finishes on their products to help you fashion your home decor the way you imagined. All of their furniture is hand-crafted from quality woods, incorporating other superior materials such as aluminum, glass, plastic, leather, and marble. Every joint is carefully constructed (keeping wood's sensitivity to heat and humidity in mind) allowing for expansion and contraction. All joints are held together with glue and nail.
Stanley's 30-step finishing process starts with an undertone stain that is applied to a hand-sanded piece. Next, the stain is sealed with a wash coat, then hand sanded again with filler applied to pack the wood pores and smooth out the surface. A sealer coat is then applied, the piece is hand sanded again, and hand padded to mellow the tone. From there, a luster glaze is rubbed on by hand, followed by antiquing or distressing also done by hand. Finally, after drying, each piece is hand waxed and rubbed prior to final inspection.
