The Nine Stars Touchless Stainless Steel 13.2 Gallon Trash Can will make disposing of trash much easier and a little less disgusting, too. Its hands-free operation helps keep your home safe and clean. The sleek oval trash can features an infrared motion sensor that detects when your hand is within 10 inches near the black lid. It opens to let you to throw out your trash and then it closes automatically when you remove your hand. The sensor is located at the top of the trash can, and motion must be above the sensor in order to activate the lid. Durable stainless-steel construction provides a classic look, easy cleanup, and protection from rust and water damage. It operates on four D batteries (not included) and can be opened and closed a minimum of 10,000 times before needing battery replacement. Dimensions: 16.5L x 11.5W x 26.5H inches.

This product is made of lightweight stainless steel so I would not expect it to withstand abuse. Keep it out of the way of doors and angry feet. I haven't had it long enough to comment on reliability, but I have had its cousin - the DZT 50-9 - for a couple months of flawless operation. Bag is easy to change and the can does an effective job of holding in smells. This is a very attractive product at a good price.
By the way, the primary differences between the DZT 50-13 and the DZT 50-9 are that the DZT 50-13 has a stainless steel lid (vs a black plastic lid) and a wider opening (14.5 inches vs 12 inches) than the DZT 50-9.

I was looking for a trash can that would be easy to use and keep my 2 dogs out of it. This works great. The lid opens even when both hands are full. Every once in a while my dogs will snoop and the lid pops open but it scares them right away. The lid is sensitive and will open occasionally when walking by but that is no big deal to me. It doesn't happen that often. I love this can and would recomment it to anyone.
