I ordered this doghouse because my daughter and I thought it was cute -- and it certainly is! It arrived a day early in perfect condition, and was very, VERY easy to put together with only a Phillips-head screwdriver. It had a distinct but not unpleasant "woody" smell, but that dissipated quickly.
I decided to order the large size, for my Basset Hound/Beagle mutt. She's the size and shape of a Basset Hound. It's a good thing I ordered the large, because it's not really large; in fact, it's definitely what I would call a medium sized doghouse.
The dimensions listed on the website were off by A LOT, and were also not consistent. I did call Customer Service about it, so maybe they'll fix them.
The actual size of the large, without the porch, is 31 1/2" W, 24 1/2" D, and 30 1/2" H. The height is from the ground to the apex of the roof. The inside height, which is more important, is 25". The inside height of the walls is 15".
The door (which has a very cute heart-shaped latch) is 15 7/8" high and 12" wide.
The porch is 30 3/4" wide (same as the exterior of the house), and 15 3/4" deep. Including the porch, the house is 40 1/2" deep.
It fits Nana -- who is really a full-sized dog on very stubby legs -- just fine, but if you're thinking of ordering this for, say, a much taller dog, this may not be the house for you. Too bad, because it really is very nice!

not good enough for medium dogs. the door entrance is too small even for a small dog better yet for a medium dog. the floor height of the dog house is still too low from the ground and still gets wet. and to return it we have to pay out of our pocket. the only good thing about this dog house is that it was free shipping.

Comments about Vortex Porch Pups Dog House:
Well built, well constructed dog house. The porch is not permanently attached, so you can move it to the side, back or somewhere else completely for your pooch to relax.
It smells SOOOO good, and it's easy enough to get inside if there happened to be an accident. This is at least true for the medium sized one I bought for my two yorkies to share.
One bad thing about wood though, if you have dogs that like to "chew" -- expect slivers/splinters near the doorway where my two have made extra "treats" out of it!

Comments about Vortex Porch Pups Dog House:
This thing is absolutely ADORABLE -- But, I'm glad I got the medium size of I wouldn't be able to clean up accidents.
Wish the shutters opened and closed. Smells nice. I don't know if I'd put it outside -- I would think the elements might rot it -- not sure.
Nice size. Well made.

Comments about Vortex Porch Pups Dog House:
So helpful at DogHouse.com... We actually are using this dog house for our generator. It is well built, and sturdy enough. After Sandy we needed a generator and they don't make enclosures for them and they can't get wet. Sales person helped us find this one and it's a winner. My dog is jealous.... he wanted to get in it.
