This beautiful garden box is crafted from solid teak grown and harvested responsibly in democratic Costa Rica. It offers a terrific value and is designed so that it does not require a liner. All hardware is stainless steel, and there are pre-drilled holes as well as teak footings underneath that provide drainage in outdoor settings. Choose from a variety of sizes. Due to the natural materials used; length, width, and height dimensions may vary up to an inch or more.

Teak is often misunderstood as being a high maintenance material, when in fact it requires virtually no maintenance whatsoever and will last for generations to come. We recommends doing nothing and allow your teak planter to weather naturally. In less than a year of exposure to the elements, Teak will naturally weather to a beautiful silvery gray patina. Due to Teakwood's high oil content and density, the grain will not open or split, which means the smooth, buttery texture will remain even after years of continued exposure. If you prefer to preserve the color of new or cleaned teak, or would like to revive already weathered teak to a like new condition, then we suggest using teak cleaner and teak protector, both can be found at your local larger hardware store.

We wanted to grow a small organic garden for our 2 year old son but did not have any available space in our yard that got enough sun light. We do have a good size patio so we purchased 2 of the 4 foot planter boxes. They look great, they are very sturdy [...] The only downside is that they were fairly expensive. However, when we shopped around we did find cheaper planter boxes but they looked terrible and were still over $200 dollars. It was worth it to us to spend a little extra to get a high quality item.

We purchased two for our coop's roof deck garden. One contains a dwarf juniper, a pygmy barberry, a hardy geranium and climbing rose, Eden. The other contains a dwarf caryopteris, garden phlox and noisette, Princess de Nassau. The boxes seem to have enough volume to keep these permanent plantings happy. I used landscape fabric as a liner and attached 6 two and half inch solid rubber wheels to the bottoms as we need to be able to move them in the event the roof under the deck pavers must be serviced. The previous reviewer was disappointed that they are not indoor worthy. I do not see this in the description and find that they are as smooth and attractive as any planter boxes I have seen in home centers or purchased for the coop--which means that outdoor planters as a group are not furniture quality, but they do look good especially all planted up. The price is about average.

I'm using them for extra planting space on my porch for the big tomatoes. They look pretty nice, I just would have thought, for the price that they would have been sanded and finished better. This could never have gone inside the house as a piece of furniture, like the description says.
