Bought this to add a decorative touch to the hallway from the front door to the living room. Also to give me a storage area for shoes n work boots along with hat and uniform top. I must say....it definitely adds a nice decorative touch and gives us plenty of space to store all our commonly worn shoes without clutter and mess. The mirror adds a nice appearance and the color is really attractive. The pieces had me skeptical when assembling but it turned out really well and sturdy. I weight 240 @ 6'2" and it holds me perfectly fine when putting on my boots and taking them off. The shock strut on the hinged door is designed nicely and opens automatically with an initial lift of about 4-6 inches. Overall this purchase is one of the most appreciative and valued I have made recently. [...] Definitely will use Hayneedle again!

Incorrect pre-drilled holes on a brace
I was so excited to find a hall tree for a reasonable price, and with decent reviews. I was disappointed when the product arrived.

I was so excited to find a hall tree for a reasonable price, and with decent reviews. I was disappointed when the product arrived.
I did not get past step 2 in the directions before I needed to contact the company. The pre-drilled holes in the brace that held the 2 back panels together did not line up with the holes on the unit. I called the company and received excellent customer service. I was glad that the brace in the new unit work on my original panels. I was curious to see how the brace holes lined up with the pieces in the new unit. It was the exact same issue. Had I been a customer receiving that whole unit, the incorrectly drilled holes in the brace would have meant a unit that could not be built.
The front piece of the bench also arrived with several noticeable scratches. It is disappointing to pay for something that arrives slightly damaged.
With all that said, it is a very attractive piece of furniture. It appears sturdy and does what I needed it to do.

This was pretty simple to put together. Did have to get help to place the top on the bench. I love this hall tree over all. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is that I wish the back could be secured a little better to the base. But over all love it. Coats and hats hang well with no problem. And love the bench space for shoes.

I am really not a fan of buying furniture that you need to assemble because it seems to always look very cheap once you have it put together. That is no the case for this piece. After searching for months as furnitures stores trying to find something that was going to be a nice accent vs. take over the space. This is the perfect piece for my entry way.

Placement of pre-drilled holes made the bottom of the chest misaligned--slight gap in the bottom from being a little askew. Shouldn't matter, items won't fall through, but not the highest quality
