I had such high hopes for this table based on all the other reviews I read. Sadly, I have to report that all though the look of the table is really pretty it has been chipping like crazy!!!! It arrived really well packaged, yet when I got all the packaging off (which was a major endeavor) there was a small dent/chip on the black rim where the nailheads are. I had to destroy the box, just to get the table out of it because it was taped every which way, so I decided to accept it chip and all. With in days the black trim areas were chipping endlessly. THen a chip on the surface, then another. Yes, this table is used in my family room, but this is crazy!! We aren't practicing karate in there. In addition, as the black continues to chip you can see that under the thin layer of black paint is pressed board (particle board) So what I think is happening is the particle board is literally crumbling which is causing the paint to chip off. I'm so heart broken!! I can't afford to replace it so soon, and it's sure to look horrid within a very short time. I'm gonna try, but without the box I'm sure I wont be able to return it. :(
