This item arrived one full week, without notification, after the promised delivery date, because it is not able to be shipped via Fedex, as promised. When it did arrive it was very cumbersome to assemble, with a couple of pieces breaking due to the instability of the bookcase as it was being put together. Finally, there were nicks and scratches on the product.
The final product is okay, but has gaps between the shelves and the side walls, and there are not enough holes to place the shelves spaced correctly apart. I am using it in a small home office, but I would not feel comfortable using it in my other rooms.

After having read the other reviews, I decided to order this bookcase. I have ordered from Hayneedle before, and have been pleased with the product and service in the past. However this order has been a disappointment; first arriving one full week later than estimated when I ordered it because the piece cannot be shipped fedex, and must be delivered freight, then being extremely cumbersome to construct. Finally, the workmanship on my piece is poor. The pieces do not fit together well, and there are nicks in the pieces. I have quite a bit of experience in putting together furniture from various companies , and I will not order from this maker again.

The instructions did not match the pieces inside. But, they opened a box themselves, walked me through it and are remedying this only negative comment. Good quality wood at a terrific price. It's hard to find a horizontal bookcase like this!

This is a beautiful bookcase and is nice quality for a great price. I looked for days on the internet and this was by far the best deal for your money. Other bookcases were either way more expensive or were cheap and flimsy looking. I just wish that they had drilled evenly spaced holes from top to bottom to adjust shelf heights. There are three holes in the top, three in the middle, and three at the bottom, but it would have been nicer to have more of a height selection. Overall, we love the bookcase and would definitely recommend it to others!
