Comments about Steiner 8x30 Navigator Binoculars:

These aren't waterproof. When immersed in a bowl of tap water, some water got in one side and fogged the prisms. I exchanged one pair, tried a replacement and saw the same result. Steiner's USA service center recommended another model, the 7x30 Commander XP which is rated waterproof to a depth of 10m, but I haven't tested that.

The 8x30 Navigator optics are really excellent. Focus is sharp across the entire field of view, and the coating improves contrast without being obnoxious. They're fairly light and very comfortable to hold.

The Jeep of Binoculars?

Comments about Steiner 8x30 Navigator Binoculars:

I've had the Navigator 8x30s for two years of sailing, camping travelling, and just general abuse and they've never let me down. The optical quality is great, and they are durable. This is a go anywhere do anything glass that lives up to all my expectations. And they really do fit in a coat pocket.

Customer Q & A

1 Question About This Product
Q: "How does the Predator 8x30 compare or differ from the Navigator 8x30?
A: The Predator uses a special lens coating Steiner calls CAT optics. The coating actually pulls through Browns and reds (the colors of game) while drowning out Blues and Greens (colors of foliage and haze)this is to help with spotting game.
