The electric hotplate is cast-iron, featuring a tinted bulb guard of polycarbonate, variable temperature control, and a magnetic pigtail power cord. The unit operates at 400 watts.

I have been trying to find a good electric and cast iron fondue set for several years now, everything else I came across was very expensive, and I was never able to get the combination of electric and cast iron, until now. This is a great buy. Works for oil, broth, cheese and chocolate fondues. Thank you Swissmar!

My husband and I have tried meat, cheese and chocolate fondue, this pot really does do it all! It doesn't quite get hot enough on the highest setting to really roll a broth fondue, but it is still hot enough to cook the meats and veggies if you're patient and not trying to rush through your dinner experience. The cheese fondue was the only one that I had a hard time telling what temp to set it to, and the cheese did start to burn a bit, however it came right off of the pot without a fight...cast iron IS THE WAY TO GO!!! All in all I really LOVE this pot and am looking forward to a great many years of fondue fun with my family.
