Description
Telescope Carrying Case for Meade LX200GPS 12" OR the Meade 10 inch RCX400Meade LX200 12" (both GPS and non-GPS) or new RCX400 10 inch
The case includes six lockable latches for the removable cover (no hinge), two folding handle bars, four steel-reinforced handles and die-cut foam lining with compartments for telescope, eyepieces, finder scope (must be removed from the telescope and placed in a special vinyl cover included with the case) and accessories. The focuser does not need to be removed before installation. The top of the case is not hinged. It is removed completely to insert or remove the telescope. The case is designed to be maneuvered like a wheelbarrow with the two retractable handle bars and two 10" pneumatic wheels. Installation of the wheels is easy and requires two 7/16" wrenches (or two crescent wrenches). This case is compatible with Peterson ergonomic Get-A-Grip handles.
Outside dimensions of the case are approximately 51" x 25" x 19" (assembled and handle bars retracted) and its empty weight is approximately 46.6 lbs. The shipping box is approximately 43-3/8" x 14-3/4" x 25-3/4" and the shipping weight is approximately 53.2 lbs. All values are subject to slight changes.

The telescope fits perfectly in the case. The only complaint I have is that they left a light coating of release agent on the case. This is a very light oil like substance used to remove the case from the injection mold. It is easily removed with a soapy rag but I think for the price they could have seen that this was removed prior to shipment.

I like to travel with my telescope and needed an as small as possible but strong case for my RCX400. The JMI case fits that requirement. I was a little disappointed that the inner foam lining is not better adaptable to the RCX400. For instance the GPS sensor has no spare room in the foam. I also found the casing hard to close with the telescope inside which might be due to the inner foam not perfectly matching the shape of the telescope. You have to push and squeeze fo a while before you get everything close. In the end the casing works and does its job. However, for the price JMI might want to borrow a sample of the telescope they sell a case for and do some better quality control on foam fitting. I still recommend this case just because I don't know any other competetive offering.

I bought this case for my new telescope mainly because it was the only hard sided case large enough for it. Upon receiving it, I found all parts fit together well (one review said there was a problem but I did not have that). The wheels attach well, but are a little difficult to attach deep inside the case due to the limited space, but not impossible. The foam fits will and snugly, so no problem with movement, Also there are pockets to store various accessories. I wish there was some way to stand the case by itself on end so it does not take so much floor space in my office. It is well made and with a large 'scope, it makes it easy to transport safely.

Overall, this case works great for my Meade LX200GPS. The wheelbarrow-type design is very convenient, and it secures the scope nicely. Only one minor concern: even after removing the extra block of padding as recommended for the GPS version, it seems like the fit is still a bit tight, because the cover doesn't quote fit over the base. The latches close, but the top cover doesn't stay in the the track on the bottom cover.
Despite this minor item, it's a great case that I would recommend to other users.
