Description

The U-2 spy plane, developed at the famous Lockheed Skunk Works, was built to satisfy an American requirement for a very high altitude reconnaissance aircraft, capable of flight ceilings of more than 70,000 feet. To counter the effects of altitude, pilots wear flight suits that are roughly equivalent to space suits, with minor differences. A wide array of intelligence-gathering equipment made the U-2 a very capable surveillance platform, despite its drawbacks, and it has operated from 1957 to the present day. This model, a detailed reconstruction of this iconic Cold War aircraft, will be a prized part of any collection.
