"For so many years the beginning astronomer was forced to buy a mount that was unstable and almost useless when viewing at high power. More often than not, the frustration of using an unstable mount resulted in the telescope only being used for one night and being left in a closet to collect dust. The Porta mount changed all that. It is one of Vixen's proudest designs. The combination of smooth movement, rigid design and stable platform makes your first use a pleasure and will bring you back to view more and more of the night sky. The Universe Today says "The PortaMount II is quality through and through, it's not going to just fall apart on you and it would be oh-so-easy to adapt any number of other right to it just as easily as the R130Sf went into place."

Comments about Vixen PORTA II Altazimuth Mount with Flex Handles:
The knobs have screws that are to small to tighten properly so they fall off often. 2 ways to fix this 1 use some pliers to tighten the tiny screws, or what I did, replace the screws with sockethead screws and add a 3rd wrench under the black flap.
Didn't like the dovetail holder screw digging into dovetails so I replaced the entire saddle with a ADM saddle. Had to made a custom adapter to mount it.
Cut a few holes in the tray for 1.25 eyepieces.

Comments about Vixen PORTA II Altazimuth Mount with Flex Handles:
This mount is a great grab-and-go for my 80mm refractor and 6 inch SCT. It is light weight, sturdy and very portable. I really like the fine adjustment knobs/cables. The only thing I don't like is that the friction adjustment for alt and az requires the use of hex keys rather than just knobs. The hex keys are included however, and cleverly stored under a rubber flap on the mount. Overall, its a great mount for travel or quick set-up observing sessions.
