Right out of the box these bino's worked great. Bought them for my son's Chrismas present but gave them to him early to use for hunting. Bright and clear. You pay a little more but well worth it!

These binoculars are by far the best I've owned. Mind you, I didn't comparison shop and my experience with binoculars is limited to the half dozen, or so, that I've used, abused, broken and/or lost over the years. I purchased these "sight unseen" over the internet based solely on the quality of the Vortex spotting scope that I did exhaustive research on before buying. The Talon's are amazingly clear. Probably because of the HD glass – whatever that means. Another huge selling point for me was the Vortex warranty. I just hope that I don't lose these.

This is our first set of binoculars. After much research we narrowed our decision to the Vortex or Nikon brands. In the end we opted for the Vortex Talon with the HD glass. They are compact, comfortable to hold, balanced and have amazing clarity even in low light condition when it it is dusk out. I'm sure they will provide us years of pleasure. If you want quality take a second look at Vortex.
