Works good if placed in the correct place. No leaves or debris area. Customer service excellent. Sent it back and the company sent complete new unit. Yes not easy to replace batteries but follow directions and unit should work for years. Giving one for christmas gift this year

Does not function. Says wait for 0.00 display which never happens. My advice DON'T BUY or you be stuck with a rain gauge that doesn't work.

It was simple to set up and seemed to work, but then it quit working and I had to call the factory. After being told to aim the receiver at the collector, it worked OK. Next time I would probably purchase a more expensive one.
However, Hayseed is a good company to buy from.
