The Woodstock Craftsman Wind Chime is painstakingly tuned to sound like the ringing of distant bells. The inspiration comes from the Arts and Crafts architects of the mid 20th century, including the clear tones of the four satin black square tubes and tuning based on the golden ratio.
Woodstock Percussion Wind Chimes are tuned using a computerized tuning process in order to achieve incomparably beautiful sound. These wind chimes also use a unique tuning system known as just intonation. The frequencies at which the different tubes vibrate are integrally related, thus producing the purest musical intervals. Once you hear the beautiful tones created by these magical chimes, you will understand why they are so popular around the world.
Wind Chime Length: The length of a wind chime is measured by the overall length of the chime (not tube length)- hanging hook to the end of the sail. This wind chime is 25 inches overall.

I have a smallish 1200 square foot home that is one story and wanted a chime that had a large sound but didn't look too large to keep by my house. I chose the craftsman because it met all my requirements and also looked attractive with its simplistic design and the black chimes matched some of my outdoor decor. I listened to the sound files online and they agreed with the final product, the sound is resonant, clear, and bright and not at all tinny or "tinkly."
I bought two of these chimes and I keep one near my front door and one near my back door and I couldn't be happier with the way they look or with the heavenly sound of the chimes. I wished they chimed more often. But that's not necessarily the fault of the chime, but more due to a lack of significant winds and breezes around my home.
When the winds kick up, I'm in Nirvana.

Yes, if you read other reviews, it does take a lot of wind to make this wind chime move...BUT...all you have to do is attach some "clear" tape, like shipping tape, to the wind catcher. Make the piece of tape abut a 1/2 in wider (on both sides) and about an 1" longer than the wind catcher...it will chime with just a litte breeze and the tape is clear so it is hardly noticable at all. The "low" tones of ths wind chime are beautiful. I bought this chime as set that had "two" in it. I put one in my front yard and one in the back yard and I hear at least one of them almost every day. I bought another set to give out as birthday presents to two of my friends, they come in their own Woodstock box so you can give as two gifts.

I am very pleased with my Woodstock black chimes, it has a deeper quality tone that lingers softly as it disappears. The design with the square, black chimes and the natural woodgrain accent of top and gong gives it a simple elegance. I look forward to the sounds as it goes through the New England seasons.
The way it was boxed showed that the content was protected in shipping and the instructions told me how to care for the chimes so they will give me years of enjoyment.
