Woodstock Percussion Wind Chimes are tuned using a computerized tuning process in order to achieve incomparably beautiful sound. These wind chimes also use a unique tuning system known as just intonation. The frequencies at which the different tubes vibrate are integrally related, thus producing the purest musical intervals. Every part of a Woodstock Chime is weather protected. Over time, however, those layers of protection can begin to wear. To enjoy your Woodstock Chimes for years to come, we suggest the following simple maintenance tips. Periodically, apply a thin layer of Danish or lemon oil with a clean cloth to the hardwood parts. Regular oiling will help protect the wood and retard the natural aging process. The tubes of traditional Woodstock Chimes are made of anodized aluminum that will not rust when exposed to the elements. However, over time, the aluminum may show pitting as a result of environmental factors. Please note this will not affect the beautiful tones of your chimes. Use mild soap and water (or a foaming, non-abrasive cleanser) to clean the tubes, glass or plastic parts. Try not to dampen the string.

We have a large wrap-around front porch, and after I painted it recently I wanted to do something to make it feel truly special. So I bought a Woodstock Earth wind chime at a local store and liked it so much I decided to go online to see if perhaps it was part of a series. To my pleasant surprise, I came across the Hayneedle site with its vast selection of wind chimes. I decided to purchase five more Encore chimes since they are designed to harmonize with each other: Mars, Polaris, Pluto, Neptune and Venus. They look great hanging from my porch but more importantly they sound fantastic, although it gets a little loud when the wind blows hard (but I love it, lol). This specific wind chime, the Mars, is the smallest chime in my set. It's small enough to hang pretty much anywhere. The tones are on the high side. The Mars is the only one of my six Woodstock wind chimes that hangs directly from the string rather than from a hook. I would prefer a hook, hence the four star rating rather than five. The Mars is so light that perhaps it doesn't really matter, but a hook would definitely be an improvement and consistent with the Woodstock product line.[...].I'm very pleased with the purchase.

As most chimes. They are hard to try out before you put them in their natural element. This particular chime needs a fairly healthy breeze for it to give you some what of an idea if you like it or not.

I bought this windchime for my boyfriend for Christmas as a small extra gift since he said that he enjoys hearing windchimes on our evening walks. This was our first windchime. As I wasn't able to know what it sounded like prior to purchase I didn't want to spend a lot on it. We love it. It is very sensitive to breezes.It hangs on our front porch and we can enjoy it in our living room which is adjacent. We hear its soft chimes quite often. I would compare its chime to the soft tinkle, tinkle that you hear on movies or tv when the fairy grants her wish. It is not the most decorative chime on this site- but that isn't what I was looking for. It is definitely better made than other windchimes in this price range. I don't think that I would recommend it to hang out in the elements- I don't think the materials would stand up. I can't wait to buy another more decorative one in the future from Windchime.com[...].

These chimes sound great! I have these hanging by the deck, and they're the perfect complement to evening conversation. They catch the breeze just right, so they're unobtrusive yet heard clearly. I'm glad I bought them, and you will be, too.
