Ever heard of a composter with a lung? Now you have. The revolutionary Exaco 123 Gallon Aerobin 400 Insulated Compost Bin has a built-in lung that aerobically breaks down waste so you don't have to constantly turn the stuff! Made of recycled (of course!) 1.5-inch-thick plastic, this bin holds 106 gallons of waste material, heats up quickly, and in no time makes lots of rich, fertile plant food. It also has a double bottom to collect yummy - to plants - compost liquid. Strong construction makes this composter much less likely to break than others. And it's heavy enough that it won't blow over. Extra tight panels all around mean rodents and other wildlife will not get in, but it's not bear-proof. The Aerobin has been university tested to outperform other leading composters. It's an excellent value, both for you and the earth.

The Aerobin 400 has the following benefits that no other composter offers:

  • It has an insulated double wall with styrofoam. This means it keeps working, even in near freezing conditions (when full).
  • A patented lung keeps air inside flowing around for much better aerobic action, creating better compost.
  • The base reservoir collects and makes liquid fertilizer.

Q: Will this compost bin still work in high heat?

A: Yes this compost bin will be suitable for hot climates and will work well in hot temperatures. The heat will not impede the composting process in any way.
Q: How does the liquid dray remove to be emptied?

A: HOW DO I GET THE LIQUID FERTILIZER OUT? Drain the liquid fertilizer from the outlet at the base of the Aerobin into a low-sided container. The outlet pipe, which turns, has an integrated valve. When the outlet pipe is at the bottom position the tap is "open", allowing the liquid fertilizer to flow and when the outlet pipe is at the top position the tap is "closed" (see diagram on page 1). It Is recommended that you turn the valve several times to loosen the barrel before putting material Into the Aerobin. Some people prefer to attach a tube with a tap attached on the end of the pipe. This way the outlet can be left on and the tap used to stop and start the flow. If the outlet becomes blocked simply use a skewer or piece of wire to remove blockage from the valve, whilst in the open position.
Q: Does it smell?

A: This item does not contain, reduce or eliminate any odor that may be created during the compost process. The product itself does not have an odor.
Q: can you add worms to the Aeorbin 400 or does it get to hot inside naturally?

A: You do not have to add worms to speed up the process - it gets very warm inside by itself - but you can if you want. My own unit is usually hot enough to fog up my glasses when I open the lid to add my kitchen waste.
