Positive action clamping wing nuts permit easy opening and closing, so you'll find that using your new canner is a breeze. You might even catch your smile reflected back at you in the high-gloss finish that makes this pressure cooker so easy to clean.

Caring for your All American Canner
To clean the metal-to-metal seal, use a soft cloth to wipe off any old lubricant, and use .0000 steel wool, a recd 3M Scotch Brite Pad, or an SOS Pad to buff in a circular motion where the cover and bottom meet. Wipe down the sealing surface again using a soft cloth. Apply a thin film of lubricant, such as extra-virgin olive oil or petroleum jelly, to the metal-to-metal seal to ensure easy opening and closing. Over time, mineral deposits from water may cause discoloration inside of your pressure cooker. Clean with a boiling solution of 1 tablespoon of vinegar or 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar in a quart of water. You can also scrub with an aluminum cleaner or steel-wool cleaning pad. All American pressure cooker canners are not recommended for glass-top stoves.

Q: Should steam be escaping from both pressure relief points during exhausting pressure cooker?

A: The cooker is designed to do this however this means your heat is to high.  Once you put on your pressure regulator it should only jiggle slightly.  No jiggling means heat is not enough constant vigorous jiggling means the heat is to high.  Keep playing with it I am sure you will get the hang of it.  If you get steam out of the over pressure valve no matter what you do then I would say call the manufacture.  LJ

A: If you have steam coming out anywhere except the relief valve you may have to much water in it!

A: My experience is one is a black pressure relief plug that stays snug and pops out only in an emergency over-pressure situation.The vent that I have open for my 10 minute venting is the one where we place the weight once venting is complete, and I'm ready to build up to my 10# of pressure.Except for that 1 hole to vent, when I'm heating up the canner, it's otherwise airtight.Does that make sense?

Q: I know it is not recommended for use on glass top stoves but can it be used on both electric and gas stoves?
