The Brentwood Kitchen Cart combines a classic design and contemporary functionality with plenty of storage space and your choice of two different top surfaces. It features four shelves on each end, deep cabinets with raised panel doors and adjustable inner shelving, and a large across-the-front drawer with a distinctive raised profile. The top, legs, braces, doors, drawers, and side shelves are all crafted from oil-finished natural yellow birch hardwood, which is indigenous to the Northeastern U.S. and ranges in color from blond to a darker walnut shade; the natural variation in color allows this cart to coordinate with your existing decor. The side and back panels, as well as the shelves, are made using finely matched hardwood veneer. Pewter finish metal hardware completes the look. Locking caster wheels provide convenient mobility or stationary use as needed.

The top of this cart is made for chopping and cutting, and any scratches can be removed with high-grit sandpaper. Recent studies indicate that wood is safer for food preparation than plastic or glass cutting boards; bacteria like salmonella disappear quickly on wood, but tend to live and thrive on plastic. You should always clean your wooden cutting board surface with soapy water, taking care to remove any food particles and dry the board immediately.
To maintain the beautiful finish of your butcher block top, always wipe clean with a damp sponge or cloth and use a mild detergent. You should never soak the wood or let water stand for long periods of time, as it affects the grain. Rinse well and towel-dry before applying new oil. We recommend Catskill's Original Butcher Block Oil, although drug store mineral oil can also be effective in sealing wood. Oil will enhance the color of the wood and offer short-term protection. The old adage of oiling the surface once a week for the first month and once a month for the first year is appropriate, imbuing your cart or island with a rich, golden glow.
