You can plug this chair into an outlet, and it can also use backup battery power in the case of an outage. This chair uses two 9V batteries for backup power. (Batteries not included.) Some minor assembly is required before use.

A: A battery backup feature is included that allows you to lift and lower the chair in case of a power outage. This requires 2 - 9 Volt batteries. The batteries are not included.
