About Fir Wood
Fir has characteristics very similar to Cedar. Well known for its combination of stability and light weight, it is commonly used in furniture, both here and abroad. While being naturally weather-resistant, it may be further stained or finished to endure and age gracefully for many years. To preserve the life of your product we recommend keeping it well hydrated by applying a coat of linseed oil a couple times a year or as necessary. You can also cover the item or store it indoors when not in use to further protect it from the outside elements. If the wood is left unfinished, it will fade to a silver gray color when used outdoors. Like Cedar, the grain is usually straight and displays prominent growth rings and knots.
