The included tank seat serves as a stylish and functional addition, with room to conceal a standard 20-pound propane tank (not included) beneath the lift-top lid. A: Yes it would definitely work. Probably best on the low setting. It emits a lot of heat.

A: Most defiantly....I do, and have for an entire season.... It does nothave to have 100% open top....Mine is a covered patio. Just any outdoorspace, I think is fine. :-)

A: Yes, provided you placed the pit near the open sides so that you had proper air circulation to vent the gases. You would not want to trap the gases under the covered patio.

A: Yes, ours is on an open patio, with Composite floor boards, it does not gethot enough to warp the boards.
Q: Does this use a thermocouple to start? Or turn on gas and hit the igniter ?

A: We do not recommend using only glass beads rather then lava rock. This is because lava rocks allow for air flow while glass beads do not and could cause gas build up.
Q: How hot does the underside get?

A: The base is insulated meaning that it gets warm to the touch but not too hot so that the unit may be placed on a wooden deck.
