Description

The F4U Corsair, designed by Chance Vought, has the longest production run of any U.S. piston engine fighter in history (1942-1952). More than 12,000 were produced over the ten year span, and the aircraft was used by many nations. The Corsair first saw combat service as a fighter in World War II, and was regarded as one of the most formidable Allied naval fighters. Toward the end of World War II, the Corsair developed into the role of a fighter-bomber, and it continued in this role during the Korean War. The Corsair was also built for many other Allied nations during the war, and the last few aircraft to roll off the lines were built for France in 1952.

This particular aircraft is painted the same as the fighter of Pappy Boyington, an American ace of World War II. The unique style of this aircraft is precisely reproduced in this superb model, making it a prime choice for any collector.
