Hayneedle customer support
A: With a masonry bit, you should be able to attach this to a bricked surface.

A: Yes, please make sure the railing is secure enough and purchase the correct size hardware.
Q: We have a deck made of Trex. Will this be okay to attack to that type of material?

A: You should be just fine attaching the Deck/Dock Umbrella Pole Bracket with Hardware to your Trex decking. I would just caution you to be sure that you require it to support too much weight.
Q: Will these hold a square tube up to 2"?

A: No, it's maximum diameter is 1 5/8".
Q: Will a 1.75 by 1.75 deck spindle support the bracket? Thks.

A: If it is a steel spindle, yes. If it is a wood spindle, it would depend on how well the spindle is anchored to the top and bottom rail. So without seeing how secure the spindle is I might stay away from spindle mounting unless it is secured very well.
