Capture an authentic log cabin atmosphere with the Fireside Lodge Furniture Hickory End Table, a cute and functional addition to your living room, den, or man cave. Since this end table is individually hand crafted of bark-on hickory planks, it's one-of-a-kind. Expect minor blemishes, knots, checking, worm tracking, or perhaps even old nail holes &emdash; these distinctive features enhance the overall beauty of your end table. The process of crafting furniture from bark-on wooden planks also means the dimensions listed are approximate. A clear coat finish protects the wooden surfaces for maximum durability. Store essentials like remotes in the drawer and use the low open shelf to display favorite books, a statue, or a ceramic vase./p>
What is Checking?
Our hickory logs are kiln dried and our cedar logs are air dried to perfection, yet it's only natural that every log will check. Checking is the natural drying process that every log goes through to release its moisture. It is common for your logs to check during autumn when homes' furnaces begin to run, making the air a little drier than it is throughout the spring and summer months. Typically, each log will develop one primary check that goes to the center of the log. Occasionally there will be a secondary check. But never fear! The check stops at the core or center of the log and does not affect the lifespan or structural integrity of our fine rustic furnishings.
