In 1907, an inventor named Murray Spangler was behind the first "suction sweeper," an early version of a vacuum cleaner. Spangler's invention was taken on by W.H. "Boss" Hoover, who hired Spangler as an employee, worked with him to perfect the design, and began producing the invention for mass distribution. Thus the Hoover vacuum was born.
Through the years, the Hoover company has been behind a multitude of innovative design changes and developments to the idea of the basic vacuum. Makers of the first beater bar, disposable paper bag, vacuum headlight, self-propelled vacuum, and more, Hoover has always been first when it comes to improvements in how we clean our floors.
Hoover now offers a comprehensive line of vacuum cleaners, from basic models to complex wet/ dry suction machines that clean upholstery as well as sweep the carpet. Hoover engineers work tirelessly to perfect their designs and produce new, innovative styles that meet our changing needs. Today Hoover is part of TTI Floor Care North America and is still, and perhaps always will be, a leader in the floor care industry.
