How can something be both simple and complex? The answer lies in the Modern Craftsman Mission Archive Bed. The construction is quite complex, featuring three full layers of maple hardwood with cherry veneers. The top two layers are cut with identical inset rectangles that reveal the bottom layer and create a shadowbox effect as light dances over the piece. And yet the total effect is simple, looking right at home in any home decor, especially Craftsman, Mission, and transitional.
You'll have your choice of finishes with this panel bed, both hand-rubbed. Mink is dark and demure with charcoal highlights, light rock dent distressing, and hand-burnishing. The lighter Saddle finish is a bit lighter and creates timeless appeal with hand-distressed worm holes, burnishing, cowtailing, and hatchet marks. Constructed in the USA, this panel bed is available in your choice of sizes and pairs perfectly with other pieces in the Modern Craftsman collection.
The Modern Craftsman Collection
Embrace austerity with Stanley Furnitureís Modern Craftsman collection, a stellar combination of Mission style, Arts and Crafts detailing, and mid-century-modern influence. The collection celebrates hand-craftsmanship with exposed joinery and stretcher motifs, while the modern industrial hardware continues the dedication to subdued elegance. Crafted of veneers, this collection draws character from burnished corners, rub-through trimmings, and natural cow-tailing.
Stanley Furniture Craftsmanship
Stanley Furniture's main objective is to produce quality and stylish furniture by using the best wood materials, construction procedures, and elegant finishes on their products to help you fashion your home decor the way you imagined. All of their furniture is hand-crafted from quality woods, incorporating other superior materials such as aluminum, glass, plastic, leather, and marble. Every joint is carefully constructed (keeping wood's sensitivity to heat and humidity in mind) allowing for expansion and contraction. All joints are held together with glue and nail.
Stanley's 30-step finishing process starts with an undertone stain that is applied to a hand-sanded piece. Next, the stain is sealed with a wash coat, then hand sanded again with filler applied to pack the wood pores and smooth out the surface. A sealer coat is then applied, the piece is hand sanded again, and hand padded to mellow the tone. From there, a luster glaze is rubbed on by hand, followed by antiquing or distressing also done by hand. Finally, after drying, each piece is hand waxed and rubbed prior to final inspection.
