Build your own tunnel of love, with the O.W. Lee Palisades Loveseat. When Freddy "Boom, Boom" Cannon sang about giving "that girl a hug, in the tunnel of love," in his 1962 hit song "Palisades Park," he wasn't just singing about a summer fling. He was also singing about an entire era that was a bit simpler. Similarly, the romance of this attractive loveseat has more to do with its overall form and functionality than it does with whomever you choose to sit in it. The finely crafted aluminum scrollwork has an elegant feel that is slightly reminiscent of park benches from that early to mid-twentieth-century period, when Palisades Amusement Park was open. However, O. W. Lee isn't so nostalgic that they think the design couldn't be improved. The curvature in this piece has a clever intentionality to it that ergonomically supports your arms and back in a naturally comfortable recline. And the superior foam and fiber filled seat cushions add to this feeling of relaxation, providing a softness that is as much a pleasure to sit in as it is to look at, visually playing off the hardness of the aluminum frame. Being able to choose from a wide selection of frame and fabric colors also gives you the opportunity to perfectly match your own personal tastes and the existing look of your home and yard. And although this loveseat has a formalistic romanticism all its own, if you also decide to give the person sitting next to you a hug, I'm sure no one would hold it against you.
Materials and construction:
Only the highest quality materials are used in the production of O.W. Lee Company's furniture. Carbon steel, galvanized steel, and 6061 alloy aluminum is meticulously chosen for superior strength as well as rust and corrosion resistance. All materials are individually measured and precision cut to ensure a smooth, and accurate fit. Steel and aluminum pieces are bent into perfect shapes, then hand-forged with a hammer and anvil, a process unchanged since blacksmiths in the middle ages.
For the optimum strength of each piece, a full-circumference weld is applied wherever metal components intersect. This type of weld works to eliminate the possibility of moisture making its way into tube interiors or in a crevasse. The full-circumference weld guards against rust and corrosion. Finally, all welds are ground and sanded to create a seamless transition from one component to another.
Each frame is blasted with tiny steel particles to remove dirt and oil from the manufacturing process, which is then followed by a 5-step wash and chemical treatment, resulting in the best possible surface for the final finish. A hand-applied zinc-rich epoxy primer is used to create a protective undercoat against oxidation. This prohibits rust from spreading and helps protect the final finish. Finally, a durable polyurethane top coating is hand-applied, and oven-cured to ensure a long lasting finish.
