Q: Is it safe to place this pit directly on a wooden deck? Or would I need to put paving stones under it?

A: from the bottom of the pit to the base there is 6 inches depending 0n howhot you get the fire pit you should be able to put on wood deck for asafety precaution I would put a 12x12 paver under the center hope this helps

A: It comes assembled. I would strongly suggest an extra coat of rust proof paint on the bowl and cover if you will have the pit 'under the elements'. It does rust if wet.
