The Troutman Classic Albany rocking chair is just that - a classic. This solid, handsome oak rocker is designed and built by expert craftsmen known all over the world for there quality handcrafted rocking chairs. The design of this chair is plain and simple, which adds to its appeal. The design and construction has not changed since 1924. This heirloom quality chair is great for sitting on the porch and enjoying the company of friends and family.
The rocking chair is made employing Swelled Joint Construction, a technique borrowed from Shaker design that uses NO GLUE or harsh chemicals. The key is the moisture difference of the small and large posts. The larger posts shrink while the smaller ones expand making an extremely tight fit. This type of fit only gets tighter over time. The only thing that has been changed over the years has been the addition of stainless steel nails to enable outdoor use, and an additional comfort curve at the front of the seat. The featured item is shown above in the Deluxe Hunter Green finish. To see other finishes, click on the swatches above.
Troutman Chair Co., established in 1924, uses sturdy oak stock from local loggers as they clear land for developing subdivisions, and does not cut trees just to make furniture. The logs are brought to the on-site mills to ensure quality control, and a link to their time-honored way of doing things. Troutman Chair products are proudly Made In The USA.
Maintenance & Care
Outdoor use of this product will result in aging similar to a wood home exterior. It is best to place chairs on a covered porch or location away from nature's elements. Clean with quality furniture polish to extend life of the finish. If chair gets wet, dry it as soon as possible. Over time finish will begin to show wear. To restore its beauty we recommend a light hand-sanding and cleaning followed by applicaton of quality finish material. Periodic touch of scratches and nicks will protect the wood, keeping moisture and mildew from accumulating.

Assembly & Care
Invert rocking chair on a solid surface with padding between surface and the rocking chair. Fit the rocking chair runners onto the tenons at the bottom of the rocker legs. The front of the rocker runner has the tenon hole closest to the end of the rocker runner. Using little force, tap the rocker runner front FIRST and then the back. Repeat front to back until you have a good fit. When the tenon is halfway into the holes in the rocker runner you can use force to get the runners all the way on. Hammer the rocker runners until the tenons are fitted down into the rocking chair runner. Since the runners are made of oak force will not hurt them. After the runners are fitted properly into all of the rocking chair legs use the stainless steel nails provided to attach the runners to the tenons. Turn the rocking chair on its side and hammer the nails from the inside of the rocker runners into the tenon. Pre-drilling the holes may ease runner attachment. PLEASE USE CAUTION WHEN NAILING ONTO PAINTED SURFACES. USE OF SAFETY GLASSES IS RECOMMENDED. PLEASE CALL IF YOU NEED ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE.
