Ornament Your Christmas Tree with Hayneedle

Would Charlie Brown have remained such a blockhead had it not been for the magic of his friends waving their arms and the sudden appearance of a few pretty ornaments? Maybe not - after all, it never was such a bad little tree. But there's no denying that ornaments do seem to have a certain magic about them, turning a regular old fir, spruce, or pine into a bona fide Christmas tree.

Context is everything. In the forest or on the farm, a tree is part of nature and a home to animals. Likewise, in a factory or stored in your basement, an artificial tree is little more than a collection of some wires and plastics.

When the tree is set up in your home and fully decorated with lights and beautiful Christmas ornaments, however, it becomes a symbol of the holiday season, signifying the celebration of friends, family, and hope and light through the dark winter months.

The reason children adore rushing downstairs on Christmas morning is not just the promise of gifts under the tree (they don't get to open those until Mom and Dad have sufficiently slept in an extra ten minutes anyway) - the reason is the tree itself. The lovely glow of a decorated tree in the still dark morning, experienced alone, has a magic all its own.

This image has been depicted time and again, in everything from Sunday comics like Calvin and Hobbes to the high art of ballet in Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker, where little Clara rushes downstairs to clutch her nutcracker and sleep beneath the family Christmas tree, which grows larger than life so that she and her nutcracker prince can escape inside it.

And the ornaments you choose for your tree are a personal statement about your tastes and the things you celebrate. Ornaments can help mark the passage of time, adding an ornament to celebrate a new home, a new baby, or a new job you've acquired in the last year.

Themed Christmas trees can use ornaments that depict images that are important to you, like angels, Santas, or snowmen. Or they can just be a collection of pieces you find particularly beautiful. Whether it has a specific theme or a simple tasteful style, ornaments make of your tree what you wish. Whatever type of tree is right for you, is here to help you decorate for the holidays.
