It’s official: Rachel Paxton of the lifestyle blog Maison de Pax has THE BEST outdoor dining/entertaining space. It has an outdoor kitchen area, a pool, a hot tub, and plenty of room to mingle. All she needed was a little help from Hayneedle with furnishings, accents, and decor, and she was set! And by set, we mean she has everything … including a table with a fire feature in the middle. Take a look …
Last summer, when we moved from an old colonial in the city to a spot that’s a little over an acre in the Texas hill country, we were so excited to have a pool and a view, we didn’t mind sitting on the ground or dragging our kitchen table outside (something we did more times than I’d like to admit). However, you can imagine how thrilled I was to partner with Hayneedle this year and give our space the outdoor dining room it really deserved!
It all started with this dining set — the inspiration for my outdoor dining design ideas.
Multifunctional Dining Furniture
This patio dining set seats six very comfortably … so comfortably, in fact, that I stole two of the chairs (I put a bench in their place) to use while lounging by the pool, and added a garden stool as a chic side table.
This set – which is only at Hayneedle(!) – totally had me at “driftwood and metal” (Rustic and industrial? Yes, please!), but they threw in a fire pit, too. I was smitten.
The fire feature of this table runs on propane, and the tank is safely tucked away in a smart little side table.
Create A Shade Feature
While we won’t be using the fire feature much during the hot Texas summers, it definitely makes this an inviting space year-round – such a bonus. To survive the Texas summer heat, we need shade …
… lots and lots of shade.
This offset umbrella might just be my favorite part of this new space. It’s amazing! It not only provides plenty of shade so we can enjoy lunch at our new table, it also rotates to cover the lounge space by the hot tub, too. Plus I used a little floral wire to string some globe lights inside, making it a magical space in the evening. Speaking of evenings, maybe we will get some use out of the fire pit this summer after all …
Add Outdoor Accessories
To make the days feel just as cozy, I added some textiles to our porch: outdoor curtains and outdoor throw pillows.
Of course, we can’t talk about our outdoor entertaining space without mentioning some serving pieces. Thankfully, our backyard has this wonderful outdoor kitchen area with a large countertop for fun serving accessories. Side note: I love using wood and metal serving pieces for outdoor entertaining – they’re durable and more stylish than plastic. Marble pastry boards work especially well for keeping cheeses cool and fresh.
If you need a little extra serving space, a potting bench can double beautifully as an outdoor buffet.
This is now the perfect space for outdoor entertaining; I don’t think we’ll eat inside all summer!
