Looking to add some luxury to your backyard? Kelly from The Lily Pad Cottage shares how she transformed her pool area from rundown to coastal fresh with easy poolside cabana ideas.
Laying the Groundwork
When we toured this lake-front property to build our new home upon, we were shocked during the open house to find out it came with a pool. Albeit a pool built in the 1950s with a falling-down fence and cabana. I could still see the potential of the space and knew it would soon be a great spot that our kids would love.
We took care of building a new fence and landscaping right away and this year we were eager to further transform the space with beautiful outdoor seating.
Finding the Right Furniture
Hayneedle had so many beautiful conversation sets to choose from and we went with a comfortable u-shaped sectional. I love the fresh coastal vibe it adds to the cabana area. When you’re shopping for outdoor furniture, be sure to also look at poolside rugs. An indoor/outdoor area rug is a great way to ground the space and set the stage for decorating.
The grey and white of the furniture contrasts so beautifully with the blue tones in the outdoor rug and pillows. The couch is so versatile, because it’s all separate pieces and we can arrange them in several ways. It’s become a favorite spot for the parents to hang out during pool parties. The large fern-filled planters add more warmth to the space and it really feels like an outdoor living room.
We wanted to continue the fresh navy and white theme with our lounge area and the umbrella and throw pillows really brought the whole space together.
I’m so happy we were able to turn a once eye-sore spot into the perfect place to entertain our family and friends. The new furniture made all the difference!
