When we moved to the suburbs last year, one requirement of our new home was that it had to have a large yard for our kids to play in. The only problem was that we didn’t have any outdoor furniture to sit outside and enjoy the yard. Hayneedle came to our rescue by translating our classic modern style into a dream oasis.
Outdoor Dining Area
One of my biggest wishes was a patio dining table that was big enough to seat eight people because we have a large extended family and we love to entertain friends. We added a 9-foot, wind resistant umbrella for shade that we can easily remove in the cooler months or move to another spot in the yard.
We loved the style and color of the eucalyptus wood of our patio dining table so much, that we bought two matching outdoor lounge chairs and a side table in the same stain and material to layout by the pool.
I used some woven baskets as planters to add some texture and height variation, and filled them with Mexican fence post cactus. I love mixing native desert plants with tropical ones to create the perfect desert oasis. To complete the space, I added an indoor/outdoor area rug with different shades of blue to pull in the blue from the sky and the pool.
Covered Patio Area
We love spending time on the patio. When we moved in, it was pretty lackluster with a cement floor and greige stucco pillars. To elevate the space, I had the idea of placing white outdoor curtains next to each post. At night, a strand of vintage style string lights outlines the porch and adds a soft romantic glow. And when we want to add more ambiance and warmth, we turn on our modern, propane fueled fire pit.
We now have a place for our friends and family to eat dinner outside, to sit comfortably by the pool and to enjoy drinks at the end of the day. No doubt we will be living in style all summer long thanks to Hayneedle.
