Make a Brilliant Entrance
My style has continuously evolved over the years, and lately I’ve been into an industrial-farmhouse style that fits our family perfectly – at least for now! Incorporating myriad materials – especially metals – has become a top design priority in our home, and I was very excited to work with to transform our entryway …
We don’t have a very big entryway, so this little space actually sits right inside of our living room. When designing this space, I knew it needed to be functional – offering storage and a place to put on shoes, etc. – while still remaining stylish; it’s in our living room, after all!
I began with a bench and coat rack since they’ll be staple pieces throughout the seasons. The coat rack is one of my favorites – it looks good without anything on it but comes with optional hooks that can be used for purses, scarves, jackets, and anything else you may need to hang in your entryway.
In order to create storage for all of our accessories, I added two large, braided baskets. They’re perfect for keeping things hidden and can easily be moved off the bench if we need the seating space.
When you don’t need the baskets for shoes and other accessories, they make a great place to store extra pillows and blankets.
I added some old books to the bottom of the bench because I love a touch of vintage. The shelf is a great place for décor, but it works well for storage, too – I keep our huge throw there for nights when everyone cuddles up on the couch.
My favorite part about this whole space? Our new T. rex skull! I always try to incorporate my family’s style into my designs, and my son is a HUGE dinosaur fan. He got so excited when he saw the T. rex, I knew I had to incorporate it into our entryway. The T. rex skull sculpture evokes a vintage industrial vibe that ties the whole space together. He’s now the protector of our shoes!
We’re so thrilled with our new space; we love how functional AND stylish it’s become.
