Can you believe it? In just under six months, the basement project is complete—from the kids space to a bar/game area and a home theater! We’ve had such a fun time sharing detailed snippets along the way, but now it’s time to see how the space flows together (and show a sneak peek of what it looked like before—eek!).
When we first began brainstorming our basement plans, our top priority was coziness. Basements can often conjure up images of dark, dreary, cold spaces, so we knew right away we wanted to veer in the opposite direction: light, inspired, and warm! To infuse these goals with the signature rustic-industrial style we’ve come to love throughout the rest of our home, we relied heavily on natural materials—from a reclaimed wood coffee table to a nubby wool rug, and heavy-duty metal accents. The result? A contrasting mix of textures, eras, and designs that are sure to leave a bold, bright impact for years to come.
In the theater, we chose to highlight textural art, an oversized sectional, and a crowd-pleasing shuffleboard table. In the bar area, rustic bar stools and a substantial card table allow guests to eat, drink, and be merry while their kids enjoy an inspired area with playful crafts and engaging activities nearby.
Care to see? Here’s a video tour of our new basement, complete with rustic elements, industrial touches, and layered textiles to cozy up the space. Take a look …
Thanks for having us, Hayneedle!
