Designer and blogger Lia Griffith shows us how she made over her home office with the help of some products from Hayneedle. See how Lia achieved this chic, modern look with gold accents and simple silhouettes.
Since our team is full of makers, designers, and other creatives, we want the spaces we work in to inspire us. Our home office is where we film all of our videos, so we wanted to create a beautiful space for us to work in and display our crafts. Thanks to Hayneedle, we were able to do just that! Here’s how we designed a creative home office with Hayneedle.
My home office is small, so I wanted to keep all the colors in here light. But since the trim in the room is cream, I knew a white desk wouldn’t work. That’s why we went with a simple writing desk in dove gray. The vibrant colors we use for our DIY projects really pop against this gray!
I like using furniture in different ways, so I’m using a chic metallic dining chair as my desk chair. We love geometric designs (and gold!) around here, so this chair is a perfect fit. Likewise, we’re using this gold bar cart that also has a geometric design to display some of our craft tools and materials.
While the bar cart keeps most of the materials we need close by, we wanted some extra shelving in the room. Once we saw this gold etagere, we knew it would be a great fit for our home office. I love how elegant it looks—and it goes with our color scheme! We use this etagere to display our storage baskets from Hayneedle as well as a few of our books, including our new Crepe Paper Flowers book. Naturally, we chose beautiful bookends from Hayneedle to hold our books in place.
Finally, we tied the workspace together with an indoor/outdoor area rug. It comes in various sizes, so we made sure to select a rug size that’s longer than our desk and leaves enough room for our chair. In addition to adding warmth, area rugs can connect all the different pieces in a room and help you create a more cohesive look.
Thanks to Hayneedle, our home office looks so modern and chic. As usual, we created a few of our own pieces for this room as well! To see how we decorated the rest of our space—and get more DIY ideas for your home—make sure to visit us at liagriffith.com.
