Super-savvy lifestyle blogger Erin Loechner shows us how to make seemingly different stylistic elements play well together in the same space. It’s all fun and games when it comes to the great design of her newly renovated basement, which now serves as a really awesome rec room featuring a bar and gaming area.
Rec-ing the Room
When we first began brainstorming for our basement renovation, we had grand visions of a multi-tasking, multi-disciplinary, recreational space that would serve a variety of purposes: relaxation for our family, entertainment for friends/family, and an inspired play haven for our toddler daughter, Bee. And if such a space could exist, we knew we’d find everything we needed at hayneedle.com.
Fast forward months and months of laboring — installing support beams, removing studs, hanging drywall, laying carpet — and we’re finally ready to tackle the fun part: decorating! We’ll be furnishing the space little by little, and sharing it all right here over the next few months. (Stay tuned for the big reveal on film in January!)
Creating a Rustic Industrial Game Room & Bar
Our first project? The game and bar areas, just in time for fall entertaining. Inspired by a combination of industrial finishes and rustic elements, the space offers just enough form and function to kick up your shoes and relax after a long day.
To cozy up the space, we installed some industrial-inspired Graham & Brown Brick Wallpaper, which perfectly complements the rustic, goose-necked Nuvo Bridgeview Wall Sconces. It already feels like your favorite neighborhood dive, yes?
We wanted to accent the beautiful Level Best Shuffleboard Table, so we chose to create our own custom art installation using these crazy-easy-to-install Architect Wall Flats. The texture alone adds so much visual interest to the space without distracting from the real star of the show: the shuffleboard table.
Quick sidenote: Are shuffleboard tables not the greatest equalizers? They’re perfect for all ages and require just enough focus to ensure a good game while still carrying on an even better conversation. This one’s a crowd-pleaser!
The Logan Adjustable Bar Stools strike the perfect chord to dress up our custom-built bar area, and their adjustable height means they can pull up to the shuffleboard table for impromptu cheerleading!
Of course, every great game room needs a winner’s throne, and the Best Selling Home Decor Modern Brown Petal Chair is fit for a king indeed. But hey, we’re getting ahead of ourselves … stay tuned to see how we style this gem in the theatre!
