A front porch is the first and last impression of your home. Designer and HGTV/Food Network personality Taniya Nayak usually weaves her magic inside the home, but this time she’s taken her talents outdoors. Her sister’s small porch space was in need of some major curb appeal so Taniya decided to create a space she could love year-round. Keep reading to find out how to decorate a front porch for every season.
Determine Your Needs
When dealing with an outdoor space with tons of potential but no specific direction style-wise, where do you start? Taniya defers to the client (in this case, her sister) and what their needs are.
“For any design project I do, I think about what the function should be – what do they want to use the space for? My sister wanted to enjoy family time on her porch and morning coffee. She gave me a list of what she wanted. That’s where I take my inspiration and I figure out how to fill those requests.”
Get Versatile Key Pieces
Of course, before defining the style, get your key pieces ready. This is where Hayneedle came in to help.
“The key piece was the sectional sofa. What I love about it is I was able to change the look; not just style, but layout too. In each look, the sofa is configured differently.”
Finding a piece that blends comfort and style isn’t always easy, but Taniya picked the perfect sectional to suit the space.
“It’s super comfortable because the cushions are so thick. It has that indoor/outdoor fabric and resin wicker that’s long-lasting and durable. The sectional holds its shape and color with all the seasons we’re dressing it for.”
