Outdoor furniture doesn’t always look as such – and that means it’s super versatile. Pieces designed for outdoor are built tough, they’re often neutral in style, and they add an unexpected element. So, go ahead and get that outdoor wicker chair you’ve been lusting after (it’ll look amazing in your living room!) or pull in that patio dining table you love. Read on to see some of our tips and ideas for using using outdoor furniture indoors.
Bring Wicker & Rattan Furniture and Decor Indoors
This is probably our favorite from an outdoor space. Nothing contrasts texture-wise like a woven rattan chair in the living room or bedroom. You can even try a few around the dining table for a laid-back, global-inspired vibe. Wicker coffee tables, end tables, and even mirrors and trays if you want to go small-scale, give a mixed-texture, layered look to any space. Pair with a leather sofa or some faux fur accents in the living room.

Go for an Outdoor Bistro Set
If a French café is what you’re wanting to create (and we totally understand why), bring in a European-inspired bistro set. An outdoor bistro set in wicker or wrought iron will resist stains and spills and works perfectly in small dining spaces. If you don’t have a dining room, try a bistro set in the corner of your kitchen area in lieu of a traditional dining set.
Use Outdoor Rugs & Pillows
Once again, practicality reigns supreme when using outdoor rugs in higher traffic areas, such as your entryway, hallways, or living room. Likewise, outdoor pillows are every bit as stylish as indoor pillows and they’re way easier to clean. Outdoor rugs also tend to be more thin so they’re easier to vacuum than regular area rugs.
Try Garden Stools Indoors
By now you’ve heard that garden stools are ideal for side tables in your living room. Try one out as a nightstand in the bedroom or for sleek seating in your home office. Outdoor garden stools come in a variety of tough, versatile materials from teak wood to ceramic, metal, and wicker.
Add Outdoor Planters
Any time you can add greenery to a space, it’s a win. Outdoor planters add that touch of life to the indoors. These can be anything from outdoor hanging planters to outdoor plant stands or smaller planters for tabletops. We love decorating with plants, whether they’re real or artificial.
Bring in an Outdoor Lounge Chair
Go ahead and shop the outdoor section for that special accent chair in your living room, bedroom corner, or entryway (or bring one from your deck). An outdoor lounge chair or accent chair is every bit as stylish and comfortable with some major durability. We love the rustic look of teak wood chairs and rattan.
