When designing an outdoor space, you want it to feel like an extension of your home – as if you have an additional room added on to just relax, enjoy nature, and socialize in. With that, you need to consider design, comfort, and practicality.
We wanted to bring in the blue tones from the ocean, since you can’t actually see the beach from our home. Our shades of blue include two patio bistro bar stools at our bar, so we can enjoy a cocktail while our kids play in the yard. We also chose teal outdoor dining plates and Barcelona blue flatware. These plates are durable enough for outdoor use but still look like beautiful ceramic pieces you would use indoors.
For dining and seating, I fell in love with natural finish of this table and chairs set. We loved that it could seat up to eight people with the extensions and had a spot for an umbrella to provide shade in our hot Florida sun. The table can also be reduced to seat six people if we need more space to mingle on the deck!
To give our space a good combination of both beach life and nature, we wanted to have greenery scattered around our space. We chose to put plants in cubed planters and one corner planter. Bringing in some greenery to the deck made it feel more peaceful and finished, and the white planters gave it a crisp seaside feel.
To finish our space we added a clear water dispenser so I could add pops of color with fresh fruit and veggies inside. I also love the look of copper with the wood stain and blues, so I chose a copper steel tub for sodas and adult beverages, and a copper tiki lamp for additional lighting, ambiance, and to keep bugs away.
