Lifestyle blogger Crystal Owens of A Pumpkin & A Princess updated her own little princess’ space to suit both mother and daughter, and the results are soft, pretty, and appropriately sophisticated. Shop the entire look on our Styleboard, too.
When we purchased our home, my daughter was only 6 months old. Before we moved in, I wanted to create the perfect nursery with purple walls and butterfly decor. At the time, it aligned with my style and was great for a nursery room. But after nearly seven years and a complete shift in my style, it was time to update the room. My style now blends neutrals with a minimalist approach. Gray walls are in most rooms of our home, so it was time to switch out the purple wall paint for a neutral color that would complement the look I was going for.
My vision for this room started once I selected this white poster bed from the Lake House collection. The high arch provides enough space to fill the bed with multiple pillows. To complement the soft, neutral look, I chose this white duvet set with matching ruched shams and a flokati shag rug. I then added a variety of mismatched pillows, including this butterfly pillow and sequin “dream” pillow.
The five-drawer chest from the Lake House collection provides plenty of storage for her. I added a mirror and marquee light that complemented the space.
The décor throughout the room was kept to a minimum, with simple faux flowers and a couple of shelves above her bed.
The most decorated space in the room is the gallery wall I created above her gray media desk. Here I used shades of pink and teal with gold accents.
The gray media desk and matching chair are the perfect size for her age. This little nook has become a great space for her to complete homework in her room. I also love how many storage shelves are built into the desk hutch. The shelves on the right are great for organizing papers, notebooks, and schoolbooks. The hutch also includes a corkboard panel for pinning notes, photos, or important papers I need to sign.
The main deciding factor for selecting the Lake House bedroom collection was the storage options. The bed came with the option to add two drawers and an open space for storage. The nightstand also has two drawers and a storage space above. My daughter is currently using the space to keep decorative storage boxes and books.
This space is now updated for her age and my home decor style. And with the storage options, keeping the room organized will also be easier to manage.
