Lifestyle blogger Jenny Keller shows us how to tailgate with style – yes, we can! See how she put together a beachy keen tailgate party with favorites from hayneedle.com.
Anyone can tailgate, practically no matter what you drive. Back your vehicle right onto the beach and set the stage in your trunk. Lay a tablecloth out to give it a picnic feel and set out your spread.
Be sure to fill your beach tote with sunscreen, towels, a set of dry clothes and maybe a couple of magazines to catch up on while the kids play in the sand.
Don’t forget the chairs! A great lounger is worth bringing along. Sure, you can sit in the sand or plant yourself on a log, but it’s so much more relaxing in a beach chair.
On a hot day, be sure to remember a tent, canopy, or shelter to offer a bit of shade. It’s nice to cool off and take a break from the sun. I love our easy-set-up, easy-break-down canopy by Shelterlogic.
For an evening at the beach, plan a simple dinner such as hot dogs, chips, and fruit. We bring our Napoleon Portable Travelq to cook dinner. It’s lightweight, easy to roll, set up, and start. The electric start makes it so convenient and easy enough for almost anyone to use.
A great cooler is essential to keep dinner supplies and drinks cold. I love our Coleman cooler. It’s not too heavy and provides enough space for everyone’s food and beverages.
We also love to bring our corn hole set down to the beach. It’s a fun game for all ages – well, almost all ages – and is easy to play … or play on.
The best way to end a day at the beach is with s’mores! Some beaches have fire pits available but if not, don’t be afraid to bring your own. Bring a few pieces of firewood, roasting sticks, and s’mores supplies, and enjoy the last rays of the sun in the sweetest way.
