Interior designer and HGTV personality Taniya Nayak has taken her magical eye outdoors — to her sister’s porch, to be exact! With so much potential and a blank canvas to work with, this porch was given three seasonal looks, all built around key pieces and utilizing the space for what she needed. Read on and see how Taniya got this fall front porch.
Try an Off-kilter Color Palette
Keeping her key sectional and throwing in a geometric rug to define the space, Taniya created a unique fall front porch. It incorporated her sister’s girly style with the functionality and usability of the space in mind.
“This fall look was more sophisticated and elegant — it’s masculine meets feminine because we have lots of prints on the pillows. We still took a modern approach.”
No fall look is complete without a touch of orange, but Taniya decided to add in navy blue for a different take on the traditional autumnal palette.
“I wanted to keep it fresh without being too traditional. I contrasted the orange with blue which gave it a more modern fall palette.”
Taniya threw in a white pumpkin for a clean, unexpected look that still felt very of-the-season. A throw blanket is a must for cool nights and adds a cozy fall vibe.
An Extension of Indoors
Adding to the “outdoor living room” look, Taniya implemented indoor elements to capture what her sister wanted in an outdoor space. That included pillows, cushions, and a throw for lounging as well as ways to entertain and dine.
“Make your outdoor space an extension of your home. Add melamine plates for alfresco dining!”
Taniya also brought in a bar cart for versatility, a piece not everyone might think to bring outside. Best of all, you can transport it easily and bring it inside when the weather isn’t ideal. The crisp white finish complements the modern fall aesthetic Taniya crafted.
“A bar cart works for all season and is great for storage, serving, and entertaining.”
