When we purchased our home four years ago, the deck was in pretty sad shape. Considering how much our family loves to spend time outside, it was a shame to see how little we used it. We finally found the time to replace our decking boards this summer, and we decided to give our outdoor décor a bit of a makeover as well. We’re thrilled that we now have a comfortable and stylish deck space to enjoy with our family and friends.
A Space to Sit
We wanted to be able to easily move our seating around, so we opted for these gorgeous Belham Living Avondale Oversized Outdoor Rocking Chairs. The oversized design makes them comfortable for even our tallest friends, and we love that they can be easily reconfigured depending on how we’re using the space or how many guests we have. They’ve proven to be much more functional for us than an outdoor sofa or sectional.
My husband and I had been dreaming of a fire pit ever since we finished construction on our deck. After closely examining the layout we wanted, however, we chose two Red Ember Glacier Stone Gas Fire Columns instead of a more traditional fire table or pit. We’ve been thrilled with our choice! The fire columns fit perfectly in between the rocking chairs and keep the space nice and toasty when the weather cools down.
Versatility for Drinking and Dining
When we entertain, we like to have a variety of seating options. We created a DIY built-in bar area and chose these all-weather Coral Coast South Isle Wicker Patio Bar Stools. These stools have nice, deep seats and feature footrests between the legs—it doesn’t get much more comfortable than that!
For the dining area, we selected this beautiful Amazonia Brussels Teak Dining Set that comes with resin wicker chairs. My husband really wanted teak furniture and I really wanted all-weather wicker, so this set was perfect for us. I love the two different materials together! I also love how this set marries the wood rocking chairs with the all-weather wicker bar stools.
Adding the Finishing Touches
No space is complete without the little touches, right? We added some gorgeous decorative lanterns, as well as some ceramic and all-weather wicker planters to add interest and texture. To really make our outdoor space feel like an extension of our home, we also added pillows to some of the seating, as well as two outdoor rugs.
We’re thrilled with how colorful and comfortable our outdoor space is now. It works perfectly day-to-day for our family of four, and enables us to entertain large crowds easily.
